Air fryers in demand: Top models for your kitchen

The global market of air fryer was valued at $894.3 million in 2018, which is speculated to reach $1,425.7 million by 2026.

In the past seven to eight months the demand for electrical kitchen appliances increased in both urban and semi-urban areas. According to an expert of IoT Analytics who wishes to be unnamed, in the coming five years, this demand is likely to escalate by two folds due to the increasing population in the country, high per capita income, and most importantly popularity of technology-based goods among the people.

Because of the lifestyle change, large kitchen appliances now hold a share of 48 percent in the overall market. Between March and October 2020, it witnessed an increased demand of four folds that includes appliances such as water purifiers, toasters, kettles, and vacuum cleaners. In the cooking segment, air fryers is one of the emerging kitchen appliances that saw a rapid spike in demand.

According to Anil Kumar, store manager at KBM Electronics in New Delhi, they have sold around 40 air fryers from March 2020 to July 2020 and the demand is increasing. Kumar also stated that apart from the lockdown issue, less or no oil cooking in a short span of time is the major attraction among the users. In fact, now a 3.5-litre air fryer costs ₹3,500, that goes up to ₹12,000.

Traditional Indian cooking uses loads of oil and ghee that are high in calories and are not suitable for maintaining cholesterol. The longer duration of jobs and sedentary lifestyles have made people health conscious, which is also one of the important reasons behind the rapid popularity of air fryers.

Speaking of its growth, back in 2018, the market size of this segment was valued at $894.3 million, which is speculated to reach $1,425.7 million by 2026, registering a growth of CAGR of 6.1 percent from 2019 to 2026 globally, according to Allied Market Research. In India, the air fryer market is speculated to witness a steady growth of 6.8 percent in the forecasted period from 2019 to 2027.
