Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has officially entered the smart TV market with the launch of the Redmi Smart TV X Series in India. This series will come in three variants – 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch models, debuting the first Redmi smart TV in India. Moreover, the three variants will also feature Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision support among other features.
Till now, Redmi had dominated the smartphone market but now with the launch of its first smart TV, it’ll be hoping for the same results in the TV segment as well.
Redmi Smart TV X Series specifications and features
Redmi’s new smart TV X Series features an impressive list of specifications and features. As mentioned before, the TVs will come in three sizes – 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch display sizes while the TVs will also support Dolby Vision, HDR, and HDR10+ for high dynamic range content. For offering high-quality audio, the TV series supports multiple sound formats including Dolby Video, DTS Virtual X, and Dolby Atmos pass-through over eARC.
The TV series will run on 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processors, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and auto low-latency mode (ALLM) to deliver better performance with gaming. The connectivity features on these TVs include three HDMI 2.1 ports, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.5mm audio connectivity, Bluetooth v5.0, and more.
The Redmi Smart TV X Series runs on Android 10 with a stock Android TV launcher and Google Assistant. There is also a built-in Google Chromecast and the TV series becoming the first set of TVs from the company to feature the Mi Home app for TV-supported IoT products.
Redmi Smart TV X Series price and availability in India
As has been a common trend with other products from the Redmi brand, the Redmi Smart TV X Series has been priced affordably as compared to other competitors with similar features. The series will be available in three variants, all of which will come at affordable prices.
The X50 variant will have a starting price of ₹32,999, the X55 variant will be priced at ₹38,999, and the top-end X65 variant will be priced at ₹57,999.
The TV series will go on sale on March 25 and be available for purchase on Amazon, Xiaomi’s online store, and Mi Home and Mi Studio stores offline.
Redmi looking to have a similar impact in the TV market as its smartphone market
The TVs Redmi will be going up against in the affordable TV segment will be Vu, Hisense, AmazonBasics, Samsung, and Nokia. All of these TVs offer large screen Ultra-HD LED TVs at under ₹40,000. While Redmi’s TV X Series offers the best prices for the specifications, it lags behind Nokia smart TVs in terms of loudness whereas Nokia’s audio features are slightly better than Redmi Smart TV X Series’ features as well.
Redmi has been quite active in the TV market recently, even coming out with an 86-inch Redmi smart TV XL in March.
