Oppo plans to launch its first foldable smartphone in Q2 of 2021

Now, Oppo is in the news again with recent reports suggesting that a foldable phone could be in the works and it could be launched in the second quarter of 2021.

According to the latest information coming from China (via a Weibo post), Oppo is working behind the scenes with the plans concretely in place. Moreover, the device could be launched in the second quarter of 2021.

While not a lot of specifications have been leaked yet, but it is safe to say that Oppo will likely come out with an exceptional device and it might even try something unique with its first foldable smartphone.

However, Oppo is not the only company expected to launch a foldable phone as manufacturers like Xiaomi, Google, Vivo, and others are also in the race to enter the market this year. However, it seems like Oppo will be the first one to ship a foldable device as it already has plans in motion.

There is no information if the Oppo smartphone will come in an inward, outward, or clamshell folding design. However, given the immense popularity of the outward folding design, the Oppo foldable will likely feature that.

Moreover, Huawei has also announced its foldable device for 2021, while Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 this same year. Huawei and Samsung are definitely the frontrunners in the race, having already put out some form of confirmation while also having released foldable phones in the past.
