Triton’s MoU with BEL to boost energy storage systems and EVs in India

  • In order to transform the ESS and EV segment, Triton announced to unleash the most innovative product with the help of BEL.

The United States-based automobile firm Triton has now signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with state-run Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), which will develop energy storage systems and electric vehicles in the country.

Triton will offer the expertise and technical documentation that is required for the manufacturing of products related to EVs, while BEL will be the sole partner for manufacturing essential products as per the MoU. And to perk-up, the Energy Storage System ( ESS) in the country, Triton will offer all kinds of support as per Make-in-India requirements, while BEL will be the chief contractor to address the product requirements.

For the past few years, the automobile industry is undergoing a massive revolution with the approach of electric vehicles. The adoption of these cars is escalating globally and is also expanding innovative opportunities for the component and vehicle manufacturers. Triton works with EV manufacturers in both the two-wheeler and four-wheeler segments to support them in developing valves for special applications. Triton’s R&D facilities are equipped with design, prototyping, and testing facilities.

Himanshu B Patel, managing director, Triton EV, told ET, “We are excited to see the market response from India. Joining hands with BEL will definitely strengthen our commitment towards technology and clean energy-driven EV and ESS market. The whole world respects India’s technical capabilities in various sectors, we wish to leverage this through building great products around ESS and EVs.”

In the Indian market, Triton has already announced the unveiling of electric sedan N4, which will be available in four variants; N4, N4-S, N4-R, and the flagship limited edition N4-GT. The flagship variant will be manufactured in 100 units only.
