The latest gaming flagship from Asus, Asus ROG Phone 5 is inching closer to an official release as the smartphone was recently spotted on multiple certification sites including China’s TENAA listing, MIIT, and Geekbench, revealing a few key specifications and render images.
Asus ROG Phone 5 spotted on TENAA listing and MIIT
Asus’ upcoming gaming phone recently appeared on multiple certification sites, including TENAA and MIIT. The TENAA listing gave a sneak peek at the design of the smartphone, which featured the model number ‘ASUS_I005DA’. The new Asus gaming phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Moreover, it is also expected to house a 64MP triple rear camera setup as seen in the images of the upcoming ROG phone, which also hinted that the phone will come with a dot matrix Aura Lighting displaying the ROG logo.
According to the MIIT listing, the upcoming ROG Phone 5 is likely to feature a 6.78-inch display with HDR10+ support, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 172.8 x 77.25 x 10.29mm dimensions. The smartphone will come with Android 11 out of the box and pack a 6,000mAh battery (two 3,000mAh batteries) with support for a super-fast charging solution.
Appearance on TENAA comes just days after appearing on Geekbench
The report of Asus ROG Phone 5 appearing on sites like TENAA and MITT comes merely a few days after an Asus device with the same model number was spotted on Geekbench and 3C website. The Geekbench listing revealed that the device will come with 8GB of RAM and be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. Meanwhile, the 3C listing tipped the upcoming gaming phone to feature 65W fast charging support.
The new Asus phone managed to score impressive points in the Geekbench listing. It got 1081 points in the single-core test while for the multi-core test it managed to score 3584 points.
A few weeks back, Asus posted a teaser for the upcoming smartphone, revealing that the phone could be officially launched towards the end of March or April.
