Redmi smart TV to launch in India in March; expected to arrive with competitive prices

If a new tip is to be believed, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi may finally launch its smart TV in India after making its remarkable presence in the nation with its smartphones and wearables. Noted tipster Mukul Sharma has taken to his official Twitter account to share this news. He tweeted, “Thought that large TVs are expensive? Redmi might finally launch smart TVs in India at competitive prices, as early as March. Could it be the Redmi Smart TV X series TV, which launched in China last year? It was available in a 55″ variant and a 65” variant.” However, the company is yet to make any official announcement regarding this.

In the tweet, the tipster can be seen highlighting that the brand could bring the Redmi Smart TV X series, earlier launched in China in 2020, in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes at a competitive price as there are quite a number of brands already selling 65-inch TVs at affordable prices. However, the question arises whether Redmi will take the localization approach for India, unlike Xiaomi, and make the product India-specific or not.

Meanwhile, looking back at the specifications of the 55 and 65-inch Redmi Smart TVs, it appears that both the products are almost similar with the only difference being the screen size. The TV boasts of 97 percent of screen-to-body ratio along with far-field microphones that allow the user to control the TV without resorting to the remote.

The Redmi Smart TVs come with four 12.5W speakers along with four low-frequency speakers and two tweeters. The 4K TV, which has a refresh rate of 60Hz, is supported with Dolby Audio and DTS:HD along with HDR. Apart from these, the smart TV also supports Bluetooth 5 and dual-band Wi-Fi.

Powered by a quad-core CPU and 2GB RAM, the TV comes with 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports for your connectivity needs. It also has a built-in 32GB storage space.

According to reports, the Redmi Smart TV will be available in March 2021 and is expected to be priced competitively. However, to get a clear picture regarding the pricing, the available price list of the Redmi Smart TV X series in China can be taken into consideration. In China, the 55-inch model is priced at RMB 2,299 (approx. Rs. 26,000) , while it is RMB 3,299 (approx. Rs. 37,300) for the 65-inch variant. Thus, the buyers may expect the pricing to be on similar lines.
