With the Redmi K40 launch just a few days away, the company has started hyping up the fans for the official launch of the device. With the company confirming that the Redmi K40 series will be launched on February 25th, the device’s design has been teased for the first time ahead of the official launch.
Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing teased the upcoming smartphone’s triple rear camera setup as well as the true black color finish. Moreover, the Redmi exec also called it a ‘dual flagship’ launch, suggesting that the Redmi K40 Pro will be launched alongside the vanilla model.
Lu Weibing shares an official teaser for the upcoming Redmi K40
Lu Weibing had already been teasing details about the upcoming Redmi K40 series. Now, the Redmi exec has teased an official teaser image on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, revealing the upcoming K40 will feature a Matrix design triple rear camera setup. The image reveals two large sensors, a small sensor, a flash, and laser autofocus housed in a camera module that looks very similar to the Xiaomi Mi 11 camera module, only elongated. Moreover, the image also shared that the official launch event will take place on February 25th at 7:30 PM local time (5:00 PM IST).
In a separate post, Weibing also shared that the upcoming series will be the first Redmi series to feature the Snapdragon 888 SoC. While it isn’t clear which variant of the series will feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, but earlier reports did suggest that the Redmi K40 Pro is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 whereas the Snapdragon 870 would power the vanilla K40.
Redmi K40 expected specifications and features
The upcoming K40 is expected to feature the world’s smallest punch-hole display design with the smartphone coming with a 6.81-inch FHD+ LCD display with a high refresh rate. The device could be powered by either the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 or the Snapdragon 870 or even the Snapdragon 888, though the third one is highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, the other specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 5G connectivity, a 4,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support, a 120Hz refresh rate, and more. In the past, Lu Weibing confirmed that the vanilla model could be launched with a starting price of Yuan 2,999 (approx. ₹34,000).
