Panasonic India to launch more IoT products for home automation

Panasonic is apparently working on offering ‘home-automation solutions’ at lower prices starting from INR 19,999.

A number of smart home appliances have been launched by MirAIe an IoT (Internet of Things) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled connected living platform of Panasonic India. This new range of products will be available from next week onwards in Panasonic brand shops, large format retail outlets, and online platforms.

Panasonic India announced that it is expanding MirAIe and with that, the platform has launched a number of connected smart home products – a refrigerator, Wi-Fi fan, washing machine, smart Wi-Fi controller plugs and switches, and ROMA smart digital switches. Features of the new products include receiving notification alerts on the wash cycle, setting customized wash programs, and marking them as favorites in the washing machine. For the refrigerator, in order to get updates of the refrigerator door, freezer door there will be a diagnosis mode.

The new range of products or models are an addition to the MirAIe first-generation products introduced last year which were connected smart door phones, air conditioners, Zigbee plugs, and switches.

According to Moneycontrol, Dinesh Aggarwal, the joint managing director of Panasonic Life solutions India said, “We are aligned with commercial and residential developers. So we can understand everyone’s needs. With these solutions, one can really control their devices from anywhere. You could switch on your washing machine using your mobile phone or keep the heater ready at a particular temperature…If you have an AC of any other brand at home, you can buy a smart plug and connect it. So this makes the AC smart. We don’t want to restrict it to only Panasonic products and will make it brand agnostic. We are already inviting other manufacturers to join the MirAIe platform”.

Smart appliances are fairly expensive and Panasonic is apparently working on offering ‘home-automation solutions’ at lower prices starting from INR 19,999 so that price is not a factor for customers to not buy it.

With an idea to bring in more smart home products and appliances an arm of Panasonic called Panasonic Life solutions is also developing smart home products. The Panasonic Life solutions sell products like lighting solutions, switchgear, and wires. Aggarwal had also reportedly said that the price difference would be less than 10 percent between the smart appliances and regular appliances. Apart from these, Panasonic is also working on other projects that will offer smart home solutions.
