OnePlus 9 Pro leaks reveal prototype design; hints at collab with century-old Hasselblad for camera

OnePlus to collaborate with Hasselblad instead of Leica for OnePlus 9 series camera setups

Key details about the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro have been leaked online ahead of the expected launch next month. Popular YouTuber Dave Lee shared hands-on photos of OnePlus 9 Pro’s prototype on his YouTube channel, claiming that he got them from a source. The video talked about the camera module design of the device is similar to the leaked photos seen earlier, however, it housed an additional camera while also confirming the brand of cameras the device will be using.

Earlier, it was reported that OnePlus is going to collaborate with Leica for the upcoming OnePlus 9 series, but the updated prototype shows that the company will instead be using Hasselblad cameras.

OnePlus 9 Pro joins hands with century-old Hasselblad for camera

A few weeks back it was rumored that the OnePlus 9 series will feature Leica Cameras to enhance the imaging effect of smartphone photography. There was another rumor that Huawei remains Leica’s exclusive partner in the smartphone industry. This means OnePlus never actually had a chance of getting their hands on Leica cameras and other technologies. Instead of collaborating with another top camera manufacturer, OnePlus will be collaborating with Hasselblad.

OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup on the rear, housing a primary sensor and an ultra-wide sensor. The two cameras on the bottom could be a telephoto lens, which will be accompanied by a depth sensor, a macro camera, and a camera filter. Moreover, there is also an LED flash on the rear with a laser autofocus system and the telephoto lens will be capable of supporting up to 3.3x zoom.

Other specifications and features revealed by the prototype

As for other aspects, from the images of the OnePlus 9 Pro engineering machine, it is visible that the front of the smartphone continues with the curved hole-punch screen design. The device’s body adopts the front and rear hyperboloid design, which provides an excellent hand feel.

OnePlus 9 Pro

OnePlus features a unique three-stage mute button located above the power button on the right side of the device. It provides a fast scene switching function and is also seen as a unique feature of the Android camp.

In general, the OnePlus 9 Pro still maintains a consistent high-quality design that is synonymous with OnePlus smartphones. The texture is impressive and the rear camera module by Hasselblad looks very stylish and trendy. With the impressive additions of the Snapdragon 888 chipset and a high refresh rate of 120Hz, the users are likely to have an excellent experience.
