Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma confirmed that the company is working on a Micromax 5G smartphone, which could be launched soon. He admitted in a Q&A session on YouTube that the company at its R&D center in Bengaluru was working on the 5G smartphone. While he didn’t give an exact timeline for the release of the Micromax 5G smartphone, it is expected that the launch could be sooner rather than later.
Moreover, Micromax seems to be busy working hard behind the scenes as it looks to take back its throne at the top of the Indian smartphone market.
Micromax 5G smartphone confirmed
Co-founder Rahul Sharma confirmed that a new 5G smartphone from Micromax is set to debut in India very soon. While he didn’t give an exact time frame, he did state that the Micromax 5G smartphone will be released soon.
He broke this news on YouTube while also hinting at an imminent launch of Micromax’s true wireless earbuds.
Interestingly, in a video session in December last year, he suggested that Micromax could be launching a 6GB smartphone with liquid cooling and a high display refresh rate in the future. While the company hasn’t officially announced that model yet, it could be associated with the Micromax 5G smartphone that is already in the works.
Micromax looking to reclaim the top spot in the Indian smartphone market
Before going on a long hiatus, Micromax was widely considered to be the #1 smartphone manufacturing company in India. With Micromax making its return a few months back, it is looking to reclaim the top spot and to do that, it is working hard behind the scenes as it will be releasing new updates and smartphone accessories.
Micromax will soon be launching its first accessory and it could be a ‘hearable’ device. The Micromax TWS earbuds will come with a unique design and feature the new technology.
Sharma mentioned that the Micromax IN Note 1 will get the update for Android 11 OS in April. He also hinted that the company will likely offer early access to customers who sign up on its dedicated forums.
Meanwhile, Micromax will also be releasing the source code and bootloader for both of the smartphones released in November (Micromax IN Note 1 and IN 1B), which will be accessible through Micromax’s forums.
The Micromax IN 1B is expected to get a new software update later this month. While it is unlikely to bring Android 11 support to the entry-level model, the update will bring acoustic improvements, slow-motion video recording, January 2021 Android security patch, camera improvements, and overall performance enhancements.
