Huawei working on gaming laptops and consoles

Apart from the gaming laptop, Huawei will apparently also launch a new gaming console similar to Xbox from Microsoft and PlayStation from Sony.

Huawei, the leading global provider of information and communication technology or ICT infrastructure and smart devices, is reportedly working on a gaming notebook and a gaming console. The hints of the development have been coming from the Chinese microblogging website Weibo.

The inputs from Weibo clearly suggest that Huawei is going to launch a new range of notebooks that will be mostly for gaming. Apart from the gaming laptop, Huawei will apparently also launch a new gaming console similar to Xbox from Microsoft and PlayStation from Sony. Speculations about the new Huawei gaming console rivaling the already existing gaming consoles in the market have been surfacing.

The new range of Huawei gaming laptops is going to launch probably this year but the official dates are yet to be announced. Huawei has not released any teasers upon these developments. The Huawei gaming laptop will come first to the market and will only expand the company’s current notebook line-ups which is the MateBook. At the start of this year, Huawei had launched new laptops like the MateBook X Pro, MateBook 13, and 14 which are powered by 11th gen intel processor.

For the gaming laptops, Huawei will likely use their own in-house chips which is the HiSilicon Kunpeng 920 chip. The Huawei chip is based on the Advanced RISC Machines (ARM). The HiSilicon chip has been featured in the Huawei MateStation B515 computer with AMD Radeon 430 GPU.

As far as the gaming console is concerned, reports suggest that the Huawei gaming console will not be as portable as other consoles from other brands. No official statement or information has been given by the company and it might still be very early to speculate what the gaming console might look like.

Apart from that, the ‘MateStation’ which is supposed to be the first-ever gaming console of the company is being expected to launch in the second quarter (Q2) of 2021 in China along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X. The new Huawei gaming console also will rely on its in-house silicon. The price may likely be similar to other consoles but again, it is too early to expect anything.
