Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable smartphone. The phone will apparently have a clamshell design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and will be more affordable than its competitors.
Jon Prosser, a YouTuber with the channel ‘Front Page Tech’, said that Apple is working on a foldable smartphone that will mostly be targeted towards a more ‘fun and mainstream’ audience as it might come with more ‘fun’ colors like red, blue, black, white and light teal. This foldable iPhone might not be a professional device but will give a ‘fun and unique iPhone experience’. The iPhone foldable phone will also likely integrate ceramic shield glass that will be chemically treated for this device. This integration will help to enhance the level of tolerance when the phone is being folded or unfolded.
Based on other reports, the foldable iPhone will focus more on reducing the size of the phone when folded so that it becomes more compact and portable. Reportedly the Apple foldable phone is in the early stages of development.
Prosser had stated in his earlier videos that Apple is working on two foldable iPhones. However, the foldable iPhone will not be coming this year. The phone will likely release in the year 2023 but might be pushed back further in case of hurdles while developing it. Speculations also suggest that the foldable iPhone could be priced less compared to others as the components for making the foldable iPhone might become cheaper by the time the phone is launched.
