Sony Xperia Pro was announced almost a year ago and finally, after a long wait, it is set to launch in the market soon. After a long wait, Sony is ready to launch the elusive smartphone.
Xperia Pro was announced with the Xperia 10 II in February last year. While the Xperia 1 II was launched in the market a few months later, the Xperia Pro was nowhere to be seen.
That is about to change as it was reported that Sony servers have started hosting firmware files for Xperia Pro. This hints that the actual market availability for the device isn’t far.
Sony Xperia Pro to soon become a reality
Xperia Pro, for now, is only expected to be available in the US market, which makes sense as it comes with support for mmWave 5G, which is considered to be a big thing in the US market.
Additionally, there is a dedicated shortcut key to launch specific apps that you want, an HDMI micro connector, a 360-degree antenna design, and a sturdier body and finish identical to the Xperia 1 II.
The interesting bit about the release of Xperia Pro is that Xperia 1 III is expected to be unveiled soon, and Xperia Pro was unveiled over a year ago.
The firmware of Xperia Pro has appeared on Sony’s servers and is based on Android 10 with a September 2020 security patch update. These are relatively disappointing details considering the Xperia Pro is expected to be an expensive device.
Recently, CAD renders of the upcoming Sony Xperia 10 III were leaked too.
Sony Xperia Pro expected specifications and features
The Xperia Pro is expected to feature an OLED display with a 1644x3840p display, a 21:9 screen-to-body ratio, and 643 PPI density. Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 865 SoC, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The device will run on Android 10 OS out of the box.
In terms of camera, it features a triple rear camera setup (12MP + 12MP + 12MP) as well as an 8MP front camera with features like Auto Flash and Touch to Focus. The device packs a 4,000mAh battery and the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VoLTE, GPS, NFC, and more.
