Recently, Whatsapp had announced its new privacy policies that received a massive backlash with its users shifting to Signal app. Due to this sudden change, the Signal app saw a spike in downloads, and on January 15, the app faced a global outage.
The signal app’s outage resulted in errors in the chats and messages not being delivered. Users were able to open the app, sent messages but nothing was actually delivered. But amid such a situation, the company has assured its users that their chats were safe. The side-effect of the outage will be fixed in the next update of Signal, added the company.
On Android if you see "Bad encrypted message," tap the menu in the top-right & tap "Reset secure session." On iOS tap the "Reset Session" button below "Received message was out of sync." The errors do not affect chat security & will be automatically fixed in the next app update. pic.twitter.com/dgLGLZS3zB

The Signal app has seen the rise of downloads ever since Whatsapp disclosed its new privacy policies. “We have been adding new servers and extra capacity at a record pace every single day this week, but today exceeded even our most optimistic projections. Millions upon millions of new users are sending a message that privacy matters and we are working hard to restore service for them as quickly as possible,” Aruna Harder, COO of Signal, stated in a message to Gadgets 360.
Signal is back! Like an underdog going through a training montage, we’ve learned a lot since yesterday — and we did it together. Thanks to the millions of new Signal users around the world for your patience. Your capacity for understanding inspired us while we expanded capacity. pic.twitter.com/cRNV8kVtdF
