LG Electronics has pledged support to armed forces by contributing Rs. 1 crore to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.
The contribution is part of Kar Salaam, LG Electronics’ three-year-old initiative dedicated to Indian soldiers. Last year, LG Electronics had donated Rs. 1 crore to the Fund, under the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) secretariat. The donation was spent on the education of daughters of ex-servicemen and of martyrs.
The company has said that it has been actively pursuing corporate social responsibility initiatives that can be of help to the community. The contribution made is a step in that direction.
“…This is a drive to extend our support to thousands of families of ex-servicemen of the defense forces who have served the nation with undeterred commitment and dedication. We hope that by this contribution we are able to further bring positive support and change to their families. We also urge the people of India to come forward and join this movement,” Young Lak Kim, managing director, LG Electronics India, said.
“Armed Forces Flag Day Fund is set up to serve welfare and rehabilitation needs of ex-servicemen and families of the defense force. We have a huge requirement and initiatives like Kar Salaam certainly help us in raising awareness and generation of funds which helps in the welfare of war widows, children of martyrs, war disabled soldiers, and ex-servicemen,” Air Commodore B. Ahluwalia, secretary, KSB, said.
LG will also be conducting a public awareness drive asking people to come forward and contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. A radio and a digital campaign will be run. Around 7,000 retail stores will also be the venue where the awareness campaign will be carried out.
