Ernesto Galiotto, a Brazillian documentary filmmaker was shooting a video from his iPhone 6s and it accidentally slipped from his hand while shooting the video. The iPhone 6s survived the 2000 feet fall without a single crack. Not only that, but the phone also recorded the fall.
Galiotto was filming from the window of the plane with one hand when his phone iPhone 6s couldn’t withstand the pressure of the winds and slipped from his hand according to G1 the Brazillian media outlet. When he later found his iPhone with the help of the ‘Find My Phone’ app near a beach, he realized that the iPhone was still running well and had survived without any evident cracks. Although the phone was not covered in hard armor case, it had a transparent silicone case with just the normal screen protector which was the only thing that was affected by the remarkable fall. Other than that the phone did not suffer from any damage. “It’s something that, if you tell someone, they won’t believe,” Galiotto said.
This is not the first instance where the iPhone has proved its impressive resistance. In a similar event back in 2019, Haukur Snorrason a photographer who stuck his hand out of his plane window in an attempt to capture the floods also dropped his iPhone 6s while flying over a river in Iceland. Surprisingly the phone was found after 13 months in perfect working condition. The iPhone 6s survived the harsh weather condition of Iceland and hence proved its endurance and resistance.
Galiotto told the G1, “I had faith that I would recover it. I thought, ‘If it didn’t fall in the water, we’ll find it. For a few meters I could have hit a person — and, at that height I was flying, 2,000 feet, it was going to be a tragedy, can you imagine? But it wasn’t a tragedy, it had many emotions.”
