Every year, Oppo holds an innovation conference where it demonstrates cutting-edge technologies and concepts in the field of smartphones, cameras, and more. It’s called INNO Day and INNO Day 2020 will be held on November 17th in Shenzhen, China, said the company in an official teaser today. The company has also setup a landing page which we expect will be updated with the latest details once the conference kicks off.
Oppo INNO Day 2020: Confirmed Products
The theme of the conference will be “Leap into the future” and will feature three new “innovative concept products.”
As per an Oppo press release, “Last year, OPPO put forward the idea of intelligent connectivity. This year, the concept is updated as the Internet of Experience. OPPO believes intelligent connectivity is just the foundation, whereas the Internet of Experience, namely the convergence of things beyond simple connections, will be the future.”
Since Oppo has forayed into the smart home categories this year, we expect this announcement has to do with smart IoT products.
With the theme of “Leap into the Future”, Levin Liu, Vice President of OPPO is expected to be showing off 3 concept products and reveal details about two technical systems. Also, OPPO’s Founder and CEO Tony Chen will share the company’s strategy going forward in the 5G era.
On 18th November, the company’s Imaging Product Manager Owen will be talking about Oppo’s FDF full-dimensional portrait video technology system and OPPO Full Link Color Management Systems.
Oppo INNO Day 2020: Products we expect to see
While Oppo has managed to keep all excitement wrapped up for the next week, there are quite a few reports and industry insiders talking about what could be in store. Noted Chinese reported going by the famous pseudonym Digital Chat Station hinted at a few products.
Oppo foldable
According to him, most notably, Oppo could reveal what it has been doing to evolve its foldable into a polished commercial product. Oppo has been quiet mum about its foldable ever since it showed a glimpse of it back in early 2019. With more and more reports about Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi prepping their foldable, it is definitely the right time for Oppo to showcase something concrete and final. We’ve also seen a number of interesting patents including ones of clamshell foldable that could be teased.
Oppo under-display camera
Secondly, Oppo has been at the forefront of innovating the under-display camera. The company was the first ever to unveil the tech at MWC 2019. Since then, there has been much evolution and development in the right direction as even Xiaomi showed off an impressive prototype. However, none of these companies have yet produced mass-scale. That could change in 2021.
Oppo 125W fast-charging
Another area where Oppo has been pioneering is the mobile fast-charging division with its VOOC technology. Talk is that Oppo is ready to unveil the next-gen 125W wired charging and 65W wireless charging technology. Now, granted that they are a bit late this time as other Chinese companies have already debuted similar solutions, Oppo could be better poised for mass production then any of its counterparts.
Oppo 10x optical zoom
And lastly, we expect to see the 100x digital zoom, 10x optical zoom, and continuous optical zoom mode technologies at the Oppo Inno Day 2020.
