Xiaomi is all set to reveal an affordable alternative to its Mi Watch series — Mi Watch Lite, according to a leak. Tipsters spotted a recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification listing for the upcoming smartwatch. The wearable was also previously spotted on UL Demko and MIIT certification websites, which confirmed its name and model number.
The FCC website had the first look of Mi Watch Lite, and details on its key features and specifications.
As the name suggests, Mi Watch Lite is a simpler version of Mi Watch, with a similar square casing and a 1.41-inch colourful HD touch screen display. It contains a single button on the right side of the screen. The listing also reveals that the watch has a silicon strap with a clasp.
Listed with model number REDMIWT02, the specifications on the site show that Mi Watch Lite will have a built-in standalone GPS and it will come with multiple fitness modes, a design built for water resistance of up to 50 meters and swimming stroke recognition.
The list also shows the watch to have a 24-hour heart rate monitoring system and auto-brightness setting. The device packs a 230mAh battery with 5W fast charging.
Mi Watch Lite will also include Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connectivity and is compatible with Android 4.4 and iOS 10 and above.
The model number hints at the smartwatch releasing with a Redmi branding in some of the markets. However, Xiaomi has provided no official information about the new Mi Watch Lite. The prices and launch dates are yet to be announced.
