After taking a dig at iPhone 12 for not providing bundled charger and earpods, Samsung may just take the same decision for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21. The South Korean tech giant may also extend this decision to its Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Earlier, in “Hi, speed” event, Apple had announced that the iPhones would no longer be shipped with bundled chargers and earphones. Although it said that the decision was taken considering environmental concerns. But reports suggest this was done to increase the sales of Airpods and push consumers towards buying Apple’s new MagSafe charger.
As Samsung has been using USB Type-C on its flagship for years now, the users will have to spend for 45W fast charging. Apart from reducing the environmental impact, the decision of not including in-box charger and headphones will help Samsung boost its revenue margins, as they do not plan on revising the price of Galaxy S21 even when these commonly included accessories are coming in handy.
Samsung has not made any official statement regarding this decision yet. But, according to SamMobile, Samsung may not discard both the accessories but it may certainly remove the earphones and ship the next flagship phone only with a charger.
In July this year, it was reported that Samsung was planning to exclude the wall charger owing to increasing costs of smartphones. The sole reason for this decision is the 5G support and superior hardware.
This is not the first time Samsung has mocked Apple’s decision and then followed it —removing 3.5mm headphone jack from phones.
